ARF

　I will write about ARF this week. ARF is abbreviation of the ASEAN Regional Forum.

　Many countries, in the heart of the member States of ASEAN, Japan and China, South Korea, North Korea, the United States, Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand,  Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Mongolia, Russia, European Commission, are this organization`s members

 

　As a forum for dialogue to target security and regional political Pacific Ocean Asia Regional Forum Association of Southeast Asian Nations has reached a basic agreement to the establishment in the foreign ministers' meeting expanding the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which was held in Singapore in July 1993. And the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum is the first meeting was held in Bangkok in July 1994. It is an international organization with a core of ASEAN. It is usually open to expansion before and after meeting Foreign Minister ASEAN.

　There is the aim of mutual confidence-building, stage three member countries, preventive diplomacy, conflict resolution in the ARF. Ministerial Conference is being held in accordance with the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in the summer because it do not have executive secretariat. Pakistan is allowed to participate formally in the ARF ministerial meeting was held in Jakarta in 2004, "Installation Security Policy Conference ARF" by government officials in charge of national defense has been decided. In 1993, they decided to founded in the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference in Singapore. In July 1994, the first meeting was held and the European Union foreign ministers of 17 countries to participate in accordance with the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.

　In the Council of Ministers on 24 July 2006, the draft Statement of natural disasters, such as emergency response measures have been adopted.

ARF 13th is held in Malaysia which is the current ASEAN chair country on July 28 2006,, "the current situation on the Korean Peninsula" was discussed. It should be noted, was also attended by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who was absent due to the Myanmar issue ARF 12th (2005) the last time.

North Korea also took part in the Council of Ministers that was held in Bangkok, Thailand in July 2007. Foreign Ministers 'Meeting of Japan and North Korea, and North Korea Foreign Ministers' Meeting will be held for the first time, announced a joint statement, respectively. The 17th Council of Ministers was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in late July 2010. Unanimous decision is in principle and emphasis on the free exchange of ideas. It is held every year. Officials also participated in each practice, including foreign affairs, the military authorities, has been promoted practical cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
